| Your Position: | Yacht Crew |
| Overview: | Crewmember looking for yacht delivery work. |
| Current Location: | London, United Kingdom |
| Description: | I am an American citizen currently residing in London UK. I am a graduate student at the present time and with my student visa I am legally allowed to work in the United Kingdom so this isn't a problem. I will be based in London until at least mid-September 2008 and longer if I find a good job. Otherwise I would be back in the states, likely based in New York, but still interested in yacht crew employment. |
| Sail or Motor Vessel: | Sailing yacht; Motor yacht |
| Type: | Deck Hand; Chef/Cook |
| Qualifications: | I have a some sailing experience however it is all aboard small boats inshore, and in protected waters. Most of my boating experience is on powerboats. I have owned a small fishing boat for several years and am familiar with routine vessel maintenance, coastal navigation, safety procedures, radio communication, navigational rules etc. I grew up on Long Island and have been around boats my entire life. I learn quickly and have no doubt I could make a good deck hand. I could also function well as a cook. I worked as a cook in an Italian restaurant in New York for nearly 4 years and have been interested in cooking for much longer than that. Additionally I served 6 years in the United States Marine Corps with 1 tour of duty in Iraq as a Radio Operator/Field Wireman. I was formerly a certified lifeguard with New York State although I allowed my certification to expire because I was no longer working in that field. I am US Marine Corps Water Survival Qualified (WSQ). This is above Combat Water Survival, First class (CWS1) and is the highest level of water survival qualification in the Marine Corps short of actually being an instructor. Barring any time I would be unavailable due to University obligations in my current MA programme I would be interested in any yacht delivery job from short coastal to transoceanic. |
