| Description: | I am looking for work as a deckhand, i am currently in New Zealand but am very keen to go elsewhere to work. I am 23 years old, I love life, am easy going and enjoy working in a team environment. I have recently come back from a 6 month sailing trip from New Zealand to South Africa going to New Caledonia, Cairns, Darwin, Christmas Island, Cocos Keeling, Rodrigues, Mauritius, Reunion, Durbin and finishing in Cape Town. I have a degree in marine science I completed in 2005. I have a huge love for the ocean and have spent most of my life in or on it. I am a PADI dive instructor I have my local launch operator certificate (NZ commercial boating ticket). I have been the head professional lifeguard at the beach i live at for three years and have competed at the world surf lifesaving champs racing rescue boats. I am also currently a volunteer on the local ambulance I took a year off my studies in 2004 and worked for the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic as the Marine Studies Technician the work consisted of: - Running dive courses from open water through to dive master - Assisting the Marine studies tutors in teaching and lab work - Organising and carrying out field trips and survey trips - Running and being in charge of the Polytechnic boats for marine survey trips - Filling dive cylinders and general maintenance of the dive equipment I am very hard working and more than willing to learn new things. |
