I have upwards of 200,000 coastal and blue water miles and have Captained and crewed merchant, power and sailing vessels to 500 tons and to a length of 450’. Small boat handling and coastal navigation 1970 Scuba certified, Padi, Lahaina Maui, HI. 1971-1975 Signed on as merchant seaman deck hand and promoted to third mate and launch operator in the Pacific Theater. Experience - Navigation and Boat Handling, Marine Diesel Operation and Maintenance. 1976 U.S. Coast Guard Captains Lic. With sail endorsement open oceans. Retired and not renewed 2002. 1975-1979 First mate and advanced to Captain of a 112’ staysail schooner Ranger, 90’ staysail schooner Diosa Del Mar, 74’ staysail schooner Lady Ada doing charters in southern California and 3 crossings to Hawaii, Tahiti, and numerous trips to Mexico. 1977 & 1978 Taught sailing and boat-handling on Lake Superior, Knife River MN, Minong WI, Bay Field WI, Apostle Islands WI. 1978 – 1988 Owned and Captain of an 82’ Gaff Rig Ketch; Ran charters and hauled cargo from California and the pacific coast, Hawaii, Mexico, Central and South America, and the South pacific. 1979 – 2010 Delivery Captain and Consultant for marine maintenance including rigging, cold molding, marine repairs, etc. 1999 Re-certified open ocean advanced diver International Certificate Kona, HI |
