| Description: | I'm seeking an opportunity to serve aboard a private/corporate owned cruising/pleasure M/V in/near the southeast US. Although I am capable as a 100T Coastal Captain, I would eagerly work as a Captain’s Mate if the position enabled me to gain additional practical experience and knowledge in areas of navigation/piloting, boat handling, cruise planning. Understanding that my employer is taking some risk upon my acceptance, I am willing to forfeit some pay during my break-in period in the form of increased hours or a slight reduction in compensation to help ease any apprehensions. I am intelligent and will learn quickly at which time I will expect hours/pay to be normalized. Leaving behind my former career of 25 years, I began crewing, professionally, 10 years ago. Five years ago I sought my 100ton Captain’s license and continue to educate myself. I presently Captain daily S/V & M/V charter boats ranging 12-23m with capacities of 4-135 guests. I have worked as First Mate aboard a 91T-60m 625 passenger Dinner Cruise K-boat. Much of my experience has been on passenger carrying vessels for touring, weddings, meetings and dinners. I’m accustomed to providing experiences where passengers have high expectations of value and courtesy for their dollar. As a Captain for the charter boats, I’m acquainted with Coast Guard requirements/inspections, safety drills, budgeting, passenger safety, presentation of the boat and necessary monthly maintenance procedures. Positions I’ve held always regarded passenger safety as the ultimate responsibility incorporated within the maintenance of the boats. I also deliver boats on the US Atlantic and Gulf coast, Bahamas and Mexico. I've cruised in the BVI's & Greek Isles. By nature, I’m a very organized person and great at keeping records. Well-groomed, communicate effectively, good hygiene, good health, well-mannered and have a calming effect on those I work with. Ready to go! Best regards, Capt. Barry C.
